BLURB Magazine

Objective: Design a magazine article from the text layout to any pictures and/or illustrations, as well as the cover.

The article, Sudden Death: How Sports are Ruining High School tackles this idea that sports are pulling resources from the academics so much that it has became a great detriment. To visualize this, I used size difference to illustrate the gap between sports and the academics. The cover features a small child, a member of some Math Club, flanked to two impossibly large football players. The opening illustration follows an isometric grid to show a huge stadium literally casting its shadow over a small school building. The first spot illustration features a flatbed truck delivering gigantic sports trophy, and the final illustration contains additional information about head injuries relating to high school football. The back cover advertisement features my design for The Great American Smokeout, which you can check out here.
